Counterfeited products destroyed
BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) - Thailand's Customs Department has destroyed a new lot of pirated and smuggled goods, worth nearly 5 million baht.
Customs Department Director-General Benja Louicharoen on Friday presided over the destruction of the counterfeited and smuggled products, which had been confiscated by a customs checkpoint in Thailand's northeastern Nong Khai province from January-March 2013.
The destroyed fake and smuggled goods included DVDs, cigarettes and liquor of foreign brands, women's handbags, mobile phones, dietary and sex enhancement supplements, totally worth over 4.5 million baht.
The Thai Customs Department chief also ordered her customs officials to strictly check arriving and departing goods, after 18 cases of drugs had been intercepted at the Nong Khai customs checkpoint from October 2012-April 2013, including methamphetamine, ice-meth and cocaine, totally worth more than 30 million baht.
