Court to consider criminal case on October 31

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): The High Criminal Court will issue its verdict in the case of a defendant charged with disseminating erroneous information and false rumours during wartimes on October 31, according to Advocate General Haroon Al Zayani. The malicious misinformation was likely to undermine the military operations in which the Bahraini Armed Forces are participating and weaken resolve, Al Zayani said. The Public Prosecution had also charged the defendant with publicly insulting countries and a statutory body in violation of Articles 133, 215 and 216 of the Penal Code, he added. He was referred in custody to the High Criminal Court and the case was reviewed in a public hearing attended by the defendant and his lawyer who submitted his pleadings, he concluded.
