Crown Prince meets UK Prime Minister

Manama, Dec. 6 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, in Bahrain. During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of Prime Minister May’s visit to the Kingdom and her attendance of the 37th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit as a guest of honour, a reflection of the long-standing and strategic ties between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, and the wider GCC Countries. The Crown Prince emphasised the shared commitment to further developing bilateral ties between Bahrain and the UK, which are celebrating their bicentenary this year. His Royal Highness underscored the extensive cooperation between the two countries, noting the wide-ranging opportunities that exist, particularly in economic, strategic and security areas. His Royal Highness added that this cooperation is reinforced by a regular exchange of visits at all levels, which served to strengthen bilateral coordination. His Royal Highness went on to note Bahrain and the UK’s alignment on various strategic issues, which has allowed for the expansion of bilateral cooperation and coordination across all sectors, supporting the strategic goals and interests of both countries. The Crown Prince and UK Prime Minister then reviewed further ways of developing bilateral relations, and discussed a number of key current issues of regional and international importance. His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, also attended the meeting.
