Cultural heritage of Kayum Muhamedhanov
Almaty, December 18, 2009 (Khabar) - Kayum Muhamedhanov is a researcher of creative art of Abai, associate of Mukhtar Auezov, author of over 500 scientific publications and the first hymn of the Kazakh Republic. Experts say. The richest archives, manuscripts and letters of the scientist require careful study and analysis. Kazakhstan has already begun work on preserving of cultural heritage of outstanding scientist. Those who know well Kayum Muhamedhanov are sure, much of his archives have not yet been studied, and much must be discovered. His scientific works contain facts, interesting information, unique pictures and other valuable materials. Hundreds of his scientific manuscripts, books and documents were seized during the arrest in the years of Stalin’s repression. The scientist made all the circles of hell in the NKVD prisons, but did not abandon his ideas.
Murat Auezov, cultural scientist:
- He refused to sign a slanderous accusation letter directed against Mukhtar Auezov. It was believed that Mukhtar Auezov is his teacher, and Muhamedhanov was his pupil. And he showed such a courage. Incredible fierce pressure, torture, humiliation, he managed to survive all this.
Until the end of life Kayum Muhamedhanov remained a loyal scholar Abai. Due to the textological analysis he restored the original word of the poet, found biographies and works of all students Abai.

- Archives of Muhamedhanov is huge. It is so rich that it is necessary to examine and explore separately. It includes researching of creative art of Abai, Shakarim and Auezov. And separate block of the archive is dedicated to the creation of text of the first anthem of the Kazakh SSR in 1945.
The archives include many materials on restoring of names of Alash Orda, correspondence with Yestai, Zhambyl and Vsevolod Ivanov. The first phase of preservation of cultural heritage of Muhamedhanov is researching of creative art of Abai. With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information three books on the heritage of the scientist in this field were released. Kayum Muhamedhanov died five years ago. Almost for 60 years he worked at the Pedagogical Institute in Semey. In 1996, his services to the fatherland were awarded with the State award of RK.
