Culture Minister Opens 'Gulf Civilization and History' Exhibition
Doha, February 19 (QNA) - HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari opened tonight the second photography exhibition themed ( The Gulf Civilization and History), organized by the Qatar Photography Society, at the Cultural Village (Katara) .
In a statement to reporters on sidelines of the exhibition opening ceremony, HE the Minister of Culture stressed the Ministry's keenness to hold joint Gulf cultural activities noting that the " The Gulf Civilization and History" exhibition comes within the framework of agreements made during the meeting of the GCC Ministers of Culture in Abu Dhabi last October, which had urged holding and hosting of art exhibitions in the GCC states and the initiative came from Doha through this exhibition, HE the Minister added.
He pointed out that the Culture Ministry will soon announce joint Gulf events, starting with the holding of the Gulf Film Festival to be held in Doha next Thursday.
The exhibition "Gulf civilization and History features some 98 portraits depicting the most important technical features of civilization, heritage, distinctive features of modern Gulf States and other artistic images.
Participating in the exhibition along with Qatari photographers are photographers from the GCC states including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE.
The first version of the exhibition "Gulf civilization and history" was held within the celebration of the Doha Capital of Arab Culture 2010 which included 184 works of art by photographers from GCC States. (QNA)
