Customs regional workshop opens

Manama, Mar. 12(BNA): A key regional workshop focusing on World Trade Organisation (WTO) agreement opened today in Bahrain. Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa opened the three-day event which centres on steps to activate the WTO agreement on facilitating trade. Fifteen customs officials from Arab countries are attending the workshop which will conclude on Tuesday. Addressing the opening session, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed the crucial role of the customs affairs in reinforcing Bahrain's standing as an international economic hub and attract foreign investments, staving off cross border dangers. He highlighted the importance of the involvement of the private sector to develop economy, especially in exportation and importation activities. He thanked the US Ambassador to Bahrain William Roebuck for his cooperation to consolidate customs and economic cooperation.
