Dental council checks exaggerated online toothpaste ad
BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) – The Dental Council warns people about misleading and exaggerated advertisement, claiming a toothpaste brand can make teeth visibly whiter in one week and can remove dental plaque buildup and cure tooth decay after one-month use.
Secretary-general of the Dental Council Atthaporn Limpanyalert said that this online advertisement had an MC of a TV programme as a presenter for the product to make it more reliable.
The false claims that the toothpaste acts as a filling to restore a tooth damaged by decay and the formula can cause a whitening effect like snow is likely to deceive consumers.
Tooth decay and dental plaque cannot vanish by using toothpaste, but it can be only treated by dentists, he explained.
The dental council is checking the information to take a legal action against those, involved in the misleading advertisement to prevent any impacts on consumers, he said. (TNA)
