Deputy Premier chairs meeting of High Ministerial Committee to follow up on joint GCC work

Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): The High Ministerial Committee to follow up on joint GCC work, which was formed per Cabinet decision number 09-2575, held its first meeting remotely today under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. The meeting was attended by all members who are the Minister of Finance and National Economy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Parliament Affairs and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. The Deputy Premier stressed the importance of the consultative role of the committee and the tasks assigned with it in promoting GCC work and achieving the goals for which the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was founded. The Minister of Information underscored the importance of the committee’s work, especially with Bahrain taking over the presidency of the GCC in its next session, starting from January 2021. He pointed out the key role of the committee in coordinating between the ministries regarding the GCC resolutions and their rapid implementation so as to serve the interests of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC member states. He also gave a detailed account on the agenda of the GCC summit which will be hosted by Riyadh. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed thanks to the committee members, stressing the importance of the committee in boosting the GCC work and achieving the interests of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the member states.
