Deputy Premier receives IPU president

Manama, Jan. 20 (BNA): Deputy Premier, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, received here today, in the presence of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, the President of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU), Gabriela Baron, who is currently on a visit to Bahrain. The deputy premier welcomed IPU president, and asserted that her visit to Bahrain is within the framework of coordination and cooperation among parliaments, as well as of her appreciation of the kingdom’s progressing democratic process under the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Gabriela Baron expressed delight at visiting Bahrain, and being received by HM the King, as well as at her meetings with the speaker and senior officials. She lauded Bahrain’s democratic experience, praising the positive outcomes of the recent elections, which, she said, affirm the awareness of the Bahraini people and the citizens’ keenness to contribute to their country’s progress in various fields.
