Dinosaur fossil found in Nakhon Ratchasima
NAKHON RACHASIMA, Dec 10 (TNA) -- A team of experts have discovered dinosaur fossils aged about 130 million years ago, buried underground at a farmland at a district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, officials said.
Five pieces of dinosaur fossil, believed to be part of backbones and legs, belonging to the Cretaceous era and initially believed to be a group of sauropod dinosaurs, which included Saltasaurus and Isisaurus, with a long neck and tail.
In 1992, experts found oyster and clam fossils at the foot of a mountain, near the farmland and it was later confirmed that the fossils belonged to the Triassic period aged about 200 million years ago.
The latest discovery of dinosaur fossils marked the first time of finding in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Concerned authorities are preparing to explore for more fossils in the area in the near future. (TNA)
