Discovering Physical Literacy Conference Kicks off In Doha
Doha, June 22 (QNA) - The Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum witnessed today the launch of the "Discovering Physical Literacy Conference", in partnership with the International Federation for Physical Culture, Qatar Olympic Committee, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, and Qatar Sports Club, in addition to Generation Amazing, with the aim of disseminating physical culture across Qatar and the region.
The conference, which concludes on Thursday in conjunction with the International Olympic Day, witnessed the launch of a campaign entitled "Qatar National Journey to Physical Culture", where the concept of the trip intends to introduce the idea of physical culture, presenting examples from around the world about places of physical culture and its profound impact, as well as holding sessions to discuss the implementation of this concept in Qatar, in particular, and the region in general.
Prominent experts in the field of physical culture from Qatar, UK and Canada are set to discuss the accelerating application of the physical culture as a guiding concept to further adopt healthy life pattern worldwide, and they will make presentations from their experiences in this field.
In his remark delivered on this occasion, HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani is the President of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum expressed his great pleasure for the launch of the physical culture conference in Doha, pointing gout that this was the first time Qatar and the Arab region host such event that handles physical culture and sports, adding that the physical and sports culture is required by all people from all ages as it entails more challenges and adventure, elucidating that the physical culture is an educational approach, and comprehensive that lasts for life, by adopting a lifestyle of movement and physical activity. It also brings great physical, psychological, social and cognitive benefits to health and wellness, as well as contributing to strengthening academic performance and spatial awareness.
For his part, Director, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. Abdulla Y. Al Mulla confirmed that the museum and the International Physical Literacy Association share the goal of inspiring positive participation in sports and physical activity and making it a part of people’s daily lives.
He confirmed that the museum worked on Developing special programs to support physical literacy, such as the "active 1-2-3 program" which supports physical education in primary schools, where an agreement was reached with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to start this year, and the 1-2-3 program Inspiration to develop leadership and citizenship in secondary education, an active 1-2-3 program to further identify, train and deploy adults to support community sports as volunteers, as well as having a strong group of volunteers already in place, supporting the Museum's Activation Gallery, as well as FIFA programs 2022 associated to inspire engagement and promote healthy and active lifestyles.
