Disrespecting The Malaysian Flag 'Jalur Gemilang' Is An Insult To All Malaysians - Zaman Khan

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The act by the group of Australians who wore Jalur Gemilang briefs at the Formula One (F1) Grand Prix race at Sepang, approximately 45 km south of the capital city Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday is an insult to the people of Malaysia. Malay Consultative Council (MPM) Integrity Bureau chairman Mohd Zaman Khan Rahim Khan said such an act was immoral because it demeans a country. "Even if the underwear is said to have been purchased in Australia, it's still considered as humiliating our people. "We do not know the purpose of their action. But if it is to celebrate the victory of the riders they like, such an action is immoral," he told Bernama, here, Tuesday night. Local media reported Monday that police had arrested nine Australian men suspected to be involved in the incident. Sepang district police chief Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali was quoted as saying that all the men, aged from 25 to 29 years, have been remanded for four days from Tuesday. Mohd Zaman Khan, a former director-general of the Prisons Department immediately praised the police and hoped that such incidents do not recur. -- BERNAMA
