Distribution of royal cremation coins starts today

BANGKOK, Jan 29 (TNA) – People can start receiving the commemorative coins, minted for the royal cremation of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej from today. They must present their ID cards and letters of order to pick up the coins at the banks or state financial institutes where they placed orders months ago. A letter of authority must be presented in case anyone takes the coins for other persons. The front side of the coin features the portrait of the late king in court regalia and on the reverse, the coin depicts the picture of his crematorium at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground and the date of the crenation date. The Treasury Department has produced 40 million King Bhumibol commemorative coins, which are available in four types --50,000-baht gold coin, 2,000-baht silver coin, 3,000-baht bronze coin and100-baht cupronickel coin.
