Doc on Rafik Hariri assassination discussed in Tehran
TEHRAN,May 17(MNA) -- An Iranian documentary film on the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was discussed during a meeting in Tehran.
“1559” disclosed almost all documents about this issue, director Mohammadreza Abolhassani on Tuesday during the discussion at the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), which is the producer of the film.
“The documents, which have previously been discussed by several Arab media, are examined in film,” Abolhassani said.
The titled of the film refers the United Nations Security Council resolution 1559.
The resolution was adopted on 2 September 2004 on the situation in Lebanon. The council this evening declared its support for a free and fair presidential election in Lebanon conducted according to Lebanese constitutional rules devised without foreign interference or influence and, in that connection, called upon all remaining foreign forces to withdraw from Lebanon.
Hariri was assassinated on February 14 2005 when explosives equivalent to around 1000 kilograms of TNT were detonated as his motorcade drove past the St. George Hotel in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
