Doha Forum 2022: Qatar Chamber Signs Cooperation Agreement with South African Counterpart

Doha, March 27 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) and South Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed on Sunday a cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2022 activities. The agreement was signed by QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari and the President of the South African Chamber Mtho Xulu. The agreement aims to boost cooperation and coordination between the private sector of both countries. In a statement, bin Twar Al Kuwari praised the close relations between Qatar and South Africa in economic and commercial fields, noting that Qatar Chamber is keen to boost cooperation ties between the Qatari private sector and its South African counterpart in a way that develop the two countries' trade volume which stood at QR 1.3 billion in 2021 compared to QR 786 million in 2020, an increase of 60 percent. He stressed the importance of signing this agreement in strengthening cooperation between business community in both countries and exchanging mutual visits and information which leads to boosting cooperation between the private sector and leveling up trade exchange between both countries, as well as forging active partnerships in both sides. Al Kuwari said that there are many South African companies operating in Qatar that represent an added value to the Qatari market, stressing that this encouraged Qatar Chamber to sign this agreement with its South African counterpart to attract more companies to Qatar. He also stressed the keenness of Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities available in South Africa, one of the fast-growing economies on the African continent, due to the host of opportunities that attract Qatari investors. He also emphasized that QC highly welcomes South African investments in Qatar. (QNA)
