Doi Inthanon drops to -2 degree Celsius
CHINAG MAI, Dec 20 (TNA) – The temperature on Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain plunged to minum degree Celsius for the first time of this year while excited tourists enjoy stunning frost-coated morning views and the sea of fog.
The temperature was minus degree Celsius on the mountain top and 3-7 degree Celsius at Kiew Mae Pan, a popular scenic point where there was moey khab (hoar frost), said Rung Hirunwong, head of the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai’s Chom Thong district.
The data on Oct 19 showed that 3,950 tourists flocked to the park, he said.
The regional metrological centre in Chiang Mai forecast the temperature will drop by 3-5 degree Celsius from Dec 20-22 with strong wind.
Meanwhile, in Bangkok and surrounding areas, the temperature is likely to fall 1-2 degree Celsius with the lowest temperature at 15-17 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature at 24-26 degree Celsius. (TNA)
