Dr. Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa appointed ‘Arab Elders’ Committee’

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA): The Arab League has appointed the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees and CEO of the Isa Cultural Centre, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, as member of the Arab Elders Committee on reviewing Arab anti­-armament and nuclear non­proliferation policies in his personal capacity. Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was appointed to the post at the invitation of the Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit thanks to his rich experience in political issues, knowledge of the history of regional and international relations, as well as his intellectual activities at the GCC and Arab levels. The panel was formed as per Resolution 8017 adopted by the 145th meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers Council. Under the resolution, the Arab League Secretary-General was tasked with establishing a panel to review Arab anti­-armament and nuclear non­proliferation policies. The resolution stipulates that the new panel shall report to the secretary general about the success and failure factors of the Arab anti­-armament and nuclear non­proliferation policies.
