Drills on emergency plans against floods held at Thai industrial sites
AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND, September 26 (TNA) - The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) organized a drill on emergency plans against any, probably, flooding this year at the Saharattana Nakorn Industrial Estate in the country's central Ayutthaya province Wednesday.
The drill, the first of its kind at Thai industrial sites this year, was joined by IEAT Governor Veerapong Chaiperm, as well as representatives of the Saharattana Nakorn Industrial Estate and other concerned parties, namely local communities, covering a simulation of a close monitoring of water levels in front of the industrial estate by the parties concerned and the evacuation of workers and people in affected communities around the industrial site to temporary shelters.
According to the IEAT governor, a 32.5 kilometre-critical area which needs a special watch is a ring of roads leading to the Saharattana Nakorn Industrial Estate and surrounding some 30,000 rais of rice fields in Ayutthaya's Nakhon Luang and Pang Pa Han districts, where more than 2,000 households are situated.
The IEAT chief said that similar drills will be organized at the Pang Pa-in and the Hitech Industrial Estates in Ayutthaya on September 27-28. (TNA)
