EDB Chief Executive visits BNA

Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board (EDB) Khalid Al Rumaihi paid a visit to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) at the Information Ministry premises. In a broad meeting with senior editors, he stressed success of the plans and programmes of EDB during 2016, pointing out the board’s ability to lure investments from all over the world worth more than BD 100 million. The EDB Chief Executive affirmed that those investments are an added value and will have a positive effect on many sectors. He added that the investments reflect the investors’ confidence in Bahrain’s sound economy and their keenness to direct part of their capitals to Bahrain. He also pointed out that there are many sectors which have to be focused on in the next period to fast-track economic development as they have special importance according to the Economic Vision 2030. Those sectors, he noted, enjoy great economic effectiveness and are very compatible with the kingdom’s competitiveness features. The EDB Chief Executive asserted that Bahrain’s economy has many positive indices like decreasing contribution of the oil sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), bringing it to 20%, and increasing growth of non-oil sectors and their contribution to GDP by 3.7% this year.
