Education Minister participates in Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education meeting

Manama, Feb. 18 (BNA): Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, participated in the 6th virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of Riyadh-based Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education which is operating under the supervision of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). As a board member, Dr. Al Nuaimi praised the great and distinguished support accorded to the centre by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince. He stressed the centre’s numerous achievements and the efforts exerted by its personnel over the past period. The meeting also included a welcome speech by Minister of Education and Board Chairman, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Shaikh in which he underlined the importance of the centre and its role in improving the quality of education in the Arab countries. He also pointed out the centre’s continuous implementation of its programmes in 2020 despite the challenges related to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The meeting spotlighted various issues pertaining to the educational field in the Arab countries. Discussions also focused on the centre’s financial report as well as its strategic plan 2020-2028 and its budget for 2021. The attendees also reviewed the centre’s activities and programmes in 2020 as well as the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed in this year. They also agreed to boost cooperation with the Centre for Information and Communication Technology in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Ministers from Arab countries as well as experts and officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took part in the meeting.
