Education, Training Development Council holds meeting

Manama, June 26 (BNA); Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Development of Education & Training, today chaired the council's meeting in presence of its members. The council reviewed a report on the ministry of Education (MoE)’s plan and preparations for the upcoming school year and the needs for teachers and classrooms. The council reviewed the implementation of the Bahrain Teachers College’s plan for the upcoming academic year which will contribute in qualifying and boosting teachers’ leadership capabilities and their training. The council stressed the importance of preparation and selection of qualified and experienced teachers in view of the teachers’ role to successfully achieve the objectives of the educational process. The council reviewed the progress of various initiatives and projects for development of education and training included within the Government priorities. In this context, the council discussed the project for development of the Ministry of Education’s institutional structure. The council was briefed about the project and endorsed the report presented by the project’s consultants including the present status of the ministry in terms of infrastructures, human and financial resources, administrative and regulatory procedures, curricula, educational output, and the overall educational organization, in addition a comparative study of the best international practices in the field of education. The council also reviewed the proposed plan for the ministry’s development to enable its performance of its role in line with the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process in harmony with Bahrain Vision 2030. The council approved the National Examination results of the sixth and twelfth graders, stressing the importance of increasing the attention and benefiting from these examinations. The council reviewed the report presented by the Bahrain Authority for Quality of Education and Training (BQA) regarding the performance of educational and vocational training institutions. The report included the auditing and follow up of the performance in 29 governmental schools, nine private schools, six vocational training institutions, two higher education institutions in addition to the outcome of the processes of the National Qualifications Frame including one vocational training institution, the confirmation of six national qualifications, and assigning two foreign qualifications. The council approved the second updated version of the Academic Auditing Frame for higher education institutions, stressing the role of higher education as a provider of highly qualified input into the jobs market hence boosting the national economy’s various sectors.
