Educational cooperation with Turkey discussed

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Noaimi on Wednesday received Ambassador of Turkey to Bahrain, Hatun Demirer. Boosting the bilateral cooperation pertaining to education and higher education fields was discussed during the meeting. The minister briefed the ambassador about various developmental projects currently being implemented by the ministry, especially the "Digital Empowerment Scheme" aimed to boost the use of informatics and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching/learning processes at the various stages of schooling as well as the "Citizenship, Human Rights Enhancing School" through which the ministry aims to communicate to students the values of citizenship and human rights. The minister also informed the ambassador about the efforts of the Higher Education Council (HEC) to upgrade the local higher education sector through recruitment of professional teaching staff in the higher education institutions, opening new academic programmes to satisfy labour market requirements, and establishment of branches for prestigious international universities.
