Efforts Directed to Boosting Greenhouse Vegetable Production in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK direct efforts to putting the greenhouse vegetable production on a scientific and intensive basis of higher level. The provincial rural economy committee has organized shows of exemplary units and technical experience-sharing meetings under a detailed plan. Its officials have provided proper guidance to consolidate the production foundations of greenhouses while learning about their management and the state of growth of vegetables. The Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City introduced soil-less and phased cultivation methods and an efficient drip irrigation system to cultivate functional vegetables. Greenhouses in Junghwa and Yonthan counties applied a ring-shaped rotation production system to increase the vegetable production. Solar panels supply electricity needed for the water supply system at those greenhouses where vegetables are cultivated in a three-dimensional way. Improvement of soil fertility and introduction of advanced cultivation methods are prioritized there. -0-
