Eiffel-like scenic tower planned for Loei province

LOEI, Oct 6 (TNA) -- The governor of Loei province has ordered his public work officials to design an Eiffel-like scenic tower for convenient panoramic views on Phu Bor Bid mountain. Governor Chaiwat Chuenkosum said Phu Bor Bid deserved a scenic tower because a survey showed it was the country's fourth most popular mountain among tourists. The project will include an illuminated walkway around the mountain to also give conveniences and panoramic views including those of the sea of mist to visitors at day and night. The tower could be 600-700 meters tall and could turn the mountain to be a new landmark of the northeastern province, he said. The project was initially estimated to cost 18 million baht and would be designed to both welcome tourists and protect the environment, the governor said. Sompong Polpatanakul, public work and city planning chief of Loei, said Phu Bor Bid mountain was a suitable location for a scenic tower because it was about 200 meters above the ground and was already a popular viewpoint of tourists. He expected the walkway to be 667 meters long and conveniently welcome visitors all year long. (TNA)
