Elections Media Committee visits Labour and Social Development Ministry

Manama, Oct. 1 (BNA): The Media Committee of 2018 elections continued to review the voters lists at the ministries and economic establishments to help employees ascertain of the existence of their names on the lists. It visited today the Labour and Social Development Ministry at Bahrain Financial Harbour where a number of employees got assured about the existence of their names on the voters lists through the help of officials from the committee. The committee aims to reach out to the largest segment of citizens at work and those who are unable to report to the supervisory committees in all the governorates.
The Media Committee will visit tomorrow the Supreme Council for Women. Then, there will be visits to the private sector institutions and malls. The Labour and Social Development Ministry Social Care Director Huda Humood said visiting the workers in their work places is an advantage to those who are unable to turn up at the supervisory committees because of their preoccupation with other activities. She affirmed that taking part in the elections is a must for every citizen and that she was keen to ascertain of the existence of her name on the lists.
The Labour and Social Development Ministry specialist Ahmed Rabia pointed out that the initiative of the Media Committee to turn up in the work places is beneficial to save time. He stressed that the website vote.bh has facilitated for citizens ascertaining of the existence of their names on the electoral lists. He also added that the initiative aims to raise the employees' awareness of the importance of the electoral lists and ascertain of the names on them according to the electoral constituencies.
The initiative is part of the efforts recommended by the Elections Executive Committee to urge voters to ascertain of their names on the voters lists during the display period. The aim is to promote electoral awareness and ensure citizens exercise their constitutional rights of voting and running.
Voters can ascertain of their names via the website vote.bh or by visiting the supervisory committees until October 3 where the voters lists are displayed in all the four governorates. Those supervisory committees are as follows: Khawla Secondary School in the Capital Governorate, Al Hidaya Al Khalifia Secondary Boys School in Muharraq, Hamad Town Primary Girls School in the Northern Governorate and Al Mustaqbal Primary Girls School in the Southern Governorate. Visiting the supervisory committees is from 5 pm to 9 pm.
