Electricity Minister opens conference

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza, today opened the international leadership conference, organised by Bahrain Management Association. The conference, themed, Excellence in leadership in the era of digital transformation, is being attended by heads of companies and senior officials in ministries and government bodies along with about 150 delegates from outside Bahrain. In his keynote speech, Dr. Mirza said the issue of leadership excellence in the era of digital transformation is very important because of the way in which the world responds to the technological and digital revolution. He said Bahrain’s leadership had spared no effort in keeping pace with the digital transformation variables. The Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, for example, had taken great strides in this field according to Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision. Dr. Mirza also spoke of the experiences of leaders who have employed their skills to achieve their goals by implementing digital transformation of their companies and institutions. He said the most prominent of these examples are e-government applications that people use today in Bahrain. He said with the click of a button, one can register one’s car or renew a passport or even pay bills. He said institutions and organizations are facing a revolution in technology such as Internet, 3D printing and virtual reality etc. These are systems that help people work faster, and at reduced costs, thanks to artificial intelligence. Dr. Mirza thanked the Bahrain Management Association for organising the event and thanked all speakers, sponsors and participants. Association Board of Directors’ Chairman Dr. Adel Hamad thanked Dr. Mirza for his support and patronage. He said this is not the first time that the association has received his care and support. He said the association aims to hold such conferences for other disciplines and for other administrative bodies and institution.
