Electricity Minister opens leadership conference

Manama, Mar. 31 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza opened the International Conference for Transformational Leadership at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Heads of companies and senior officials in ministries and government bodies and more than 200 participants from within and outside Bahrain and from various sectors are taking part. The minister said Bahrain is the best example of successful transformational leadership with inspiring policy and vision. He also spoke about global experiences in transformational leadership, citing the experiences of the world's leading thinkers. He said leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to work towards a common goal. "The effective leader is the person who creates an inspiring vision for the future and motivates people to participate in this vision." He spoke about effective management leadership being the key to the success of change in the public and private sectors. "There is no doubt that attention to the concept of transformational leadership is an essential element of institutions and companies, especially in light of challenges and rapid changes in the local, regional and global business environment." Dr. Mirza also reviewed the role of transformational leadership in the field of sustainable energy. He gave a presentation on Bahrain’s achievements in renewable energy and energy efficiency and how these achievements reflect the methods of energy transformation and energy management. He thanked the organizers of the conference, headed by Khalid Al-Qaoud, CEO of Prince Events Management, speakers, sponsors and participants. The company has been organizing this conference since 2011. Mr. Al-Qaoud thanked the minister for his support and patronage. He also thanked the speakers and attendees and explained the importance of the conference and how to benefit from the experiences focussed on leadership transformation and the concept of leadership culture, as well as the need to give leading figures the opportunity to highlight their role in building change in institutions and organizations.
