Electricity Minister receives Chinese delegation

Manama, Jan. 23 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a a high-level delegation of Chinese companies looking for investments in the electricity and water sectors. China Engines and Engineering Assistant Director General Ge Jian, Chinese high voltage cables company official Huang Jianping and Chinese Embassy officials were part of the delegation. The minister welcomed the participants and briefed them on business development and projects carried out by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) as well as the steps taken in the development of the renewable energy sector. He also spoke about a number of projects to be implemented until 2020, including the second phase of the 400 kV electrical grid and the development of sub stations of 220, 66 and 11 kV. The sustainable energy projects were also discussed, along with participation of Chinese companies in such projects. The visitors thanked the minister and other officials for the warm welcome and hospitality and for opening up prospects for cooperation with Chinese companies.
