Electricty minister receives German delegation

Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a delegation from the German Bundestag (Parliament), consisting of members of its Commission on Economy and Energy, headed by Chairman of the Committee of Economic Relations and Energy Dr. Peter Ramsauer. German Ambassador Alfred Simms-Protz, MP Abdulrahman Bumajeed and a number of officials accompanied the delegation. The minister gave the visitors a presentation about what the Government of Bahrain is doing to provide electricity and water to citizens and residents. He also spoke about the electricity and water situation and developments in the field of renewable energy, its relationship with economic development, the GDP. as well as Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision. The sustainability of the quality of service, reliability and production sources needed to take part in renewable energy projects and initiatives relating to the conservation of energy were also discussed. The minister briefed the delegation on the most important projects at the Electricity and Water Authority in addition to the activities of the Sustainable Energy Unit, in particular the projects implemented by German companies. The two sides discussed a number of other aspects of co-operation between the two countries. The German delegation thanked the minister for the welcome and the hospitality and pledged to look at opportunities for German companies to participate in the Electricity and Water Authority’s sustainable energy projects.
