Embassy In Caaracas Introduces Indonesia's Cultural Diversity Through Film Festival

Jakarta, Mar 30 (Antara) - The Indonesian Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, has introduced Indonesia's diverse culture to the local people through the Indonesian Film Festival being held in Caracas on March 23-30, 2017, and is open to the public. According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas received by Antara here, Wednesday, the film festival was opened on March 23, 2017, by Deputy Foreign Minister of Venezuela Felix Plasencia and Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela Mochammad Lutfhie Witto'eng, and the event was attended by the ambassadors of fellow countries, filmmakers, and the local media. The Indonesian Film Festival is an initiative of the embassy to promote cultural diplomacy in Venezuela. Venezuelan people have warmly welcomed the event. In addition to officials of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least 10 ambassadors of fellow countries attended the film screening opening event, while several countries have sent their representatives. The three films screened at the festival showcase the life of Indonesian people, arts and cultures, and natural beauty of the country. It is expected that these films will increase the people's understanding of Indonesia. The three films are "5CM" by director Riza Mantovani, "Laskar Pelangi" or literally "the Rainbow Troops" by Riri Riza, and "Arisan!" or literally "a Regular Social Gathering" by Nia Dinata. The Indonesian Film Festival is being organized by the embassy in collaboration with the Gran Cine that helps promote the event to the media network in Venezuela. The Indonesian National Film Day is commemorated on Mar 30 every year. The event this year bears the theme, "Celebrating Indonesia's Diversity." u.
