Embassy Welcomes Malaysians To Join Mosul Victory Celebration

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the liberation of Mosul from the Daesh group of militants, the Iraqi Embassy here welcomes well-wishers to celebrate its victory. Opening its doors to the public and dignitaries, the embassy will receive well-wishers at the chancery, beginning Wednesday until Friday, from 10am till 2pm. The embassy’s deputy head, Hassan Muhsen said Malaysians, foreign dignitaries and Iraqi nationals residing in the country were welcome to sign its congratulatory book. “It is a great honour to extend our congratulatory wishes to all Iraqis residing in Malaysia as well to our Malaysian brothers,” he told Bernama Tuesday. The Daesh lost its hold on Mosul after it was defeated by Iraqi armed forces following a nearly nine-month warfare. The city was taken over by the Daesh three years ago, resulting in the killings of thousands of civilians and displacement of nearly one million people. Based on news report, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi arrived in the city on Sunday to congratulate the troops for wresting the city from the Daesh. -- BERNAMA
