Emergency forces hold tactical exercises
Atyrau, October 19, 2009 (Khabar) - Fire fighters, rescuers and medical staff have taken part in tactical emergency exercises in Atyrau. The sides were to improve their cooperation in case of emergency situations at strategic oil facilities. According to the training scenario, terrorists illegally entered an oil pumping facility and planted an explosive under a 20-thousand-ton oil container.
Amangeldy Kurmangaliyev, vice-head of “Semser Security”:
- This part of operation was successfully completed by the fighters of subdivision. But the task has been complicated. There were two explosive mechanisms, and one of them has snapped into action. Conditionally the tanker with oil started to burn.
Rapid response squads demonstrated hand-to-hand combat and detained the terrorists and the explosives was found by search dogs. Fire fighters extinguished a fire as their task was both to eliminate the fire and prevent it from spreading further to other oil containers and oil equipment.
Serzhan Kabyldin, chief engineer, JSC KazTransOil Western Branch:
- We had the objective of defining the time required by different services to respond and eliminate the emergency. We had to see how well the fire fighters and rescuers cooperated at strategic facilities.
Once the terrorists and the fire were eliminated, the exercise participants also demonstrated the completion of two more operative tasks. They rescued a man who had succumbed to an electric shock and a driver who was involved in a traffic accident.
