Emirati mobile field hospital provides medical services to children, elderly people in Zanzibar

ABU DHABI, 6th April, 2017 (WAM) -- Emirates mobile field hospital in Zanzibar is providing the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive humanitarian services to vulnerable groups of children and elderly people, under the supervision of the UAE-Tanzanian medical team of volunteers who work for both government and private institutions in both countries.
The opening of the hospital in Zanzibar comes in response the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to make 2017 the Year of Giving, enhance the UAE’s humanitarian performance and respond to global humanitarian needs.
The Emirati mobile field hospital employs 50 UAE and Tanzanian volunteer medical staff, headed by UAE heart surgeon Dr. Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive Officer of the Zayed Giving Initiative, as well as doctors and surgeons from the UAE, Tanzania, the United States, France, Britain, Canada, Egypt, South Africa and India.
The work of the medical surgery team is part of the campaign to treat one million children and elderly patients. In the last 17 years, it has been able to reach out to millions of people in different countries around the world, treating more than five million children and elderly patients and performing 10,000 free surgeries for poor people.
Ummy Ally Mwalimu, Tanzanian Minister of Health, expressed her appreciation on behalf of the Government of Tanzania to the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for helping victims and vulnerable people around the world, while highlighting the UAE’s international leadership in humanitarian work.
Moza Al Otaiba, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Giving Initiative, stressed the desire of the wise leadership to adopt humanitarian initiatives that aim to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable people around the world and empower youth in voluntary work, in accordance with the directives of the UAE President to make 2017 the Year of Giving, and to reflect the visions of the Vice and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, to promote the culture of giving and humanitarian work. http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302607157
