EMPEROR AKIHITO OF JAPAN RECEIVES TURKISH PARLIAMENT SPEAKER SAHIN
TOKYO (A.A) - 21.10.2010 - Turkish Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin was received by Emperor Akihito of Japan in Tokyo on Thursday.
The meeting was closed to the press.
Prior to the meeting, Sahin met with Japanese House of Representatives Speaker Takahiro Yokomichi and President of House of Councillors Takeo Nishioka.
Speaking at the meeting Nishioka said there were friendly relations between Turkey and Japan in every area.
Sahin said Turkey and Japan were the two friendly countries located in different sides of Asia, loyal to their traditions but achieved important success in modern life. Sahin said he believed bilateral relations would further boost.
Sahin said Turkey and Japan were the members of G-20, underlining that Turkey and Japan had similar views both within the scope of G-20 and other international platforms.
Sahin said commercial relations between Turkey and Japan were behind the actual potential, and expressed his belief that relations would further boost during the scheduled visit of Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan to Japan in November.
Referring to big Japanese projects in Turkey, Sahin said Japanese companies constructed Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and carried out Marmaray project.
"Turkey wants Japanese companies to fulfill Turksat satellite project and nuclear power plant if conditions are available," Sahin underlined.
