Energy cooperation with France discussed

Manama, May. 2 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza has stressed the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to open new horizons for cooperation with various countries and diversify the network of bilateral relations within the framework of Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision and to consolidate the interests of brotherly and friendly countries.
Dr. Mirza said that he is honoured to be part of the delegation accompanying His Majesty the King along with a number of ministers and businessmen to explore areas of cooperation and opportunities to exchange experiences, trade, economy and business between Bahrain and France.
The minister said that he had the opportunity to participate in a seminar for businessmen organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB) in which he gave a presentation on the projects and achievements of Bahrain in the renewable energy sector as well as speak about Bahrain’s experience in this area along with investment opportunities available to international companies.
He said some major French companies have expressed a desire to contribute to invest in clean energy projects in Bahrain such as solar and wind power. The French company, Mareal, which specialises in wind power generation projects, is one such company.
Dr. Mirza said more opportunities are now available to invest in generating electricity from the wind in Bahrain, especially after the launch of the Wind Atlas, which shows the presence of wind sufficient to run wind turbines to generate clean energy and produce electricity.
The minister said HM’s visit will be of great benefit to Bahrain in economic, commercial, industrial and investment fields and will open new horizons and advanced relations between the two friendly countries.
He said His Majesty is always keen to follow up the mechanisms of activating cooperation between brotherly and friendly countries to achieve the desired goals.
