Ethylene Middle East Technology Conference and Exhibition inaugurated

Manama, Feb. 13 (BNA): Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, inaugurated on Wednesday, the Ethylene Middle East Technology Conference and Exhibition (EMET). The conference held under the slogan "Enhancing competitiveness through energy efficiency, cost effectiveness and reliability assets and human capital". Where this event is organised by the Middle East Energy Events Company in cooperation and coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and with the support from a number of local, regional and international companies with the presence of over 1,000 participants from experts, engineers, interested, executives, institutes and related specialized universities. The minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts, the positive support and the keen interest provided by the government under the leadership of His Majesty the King, for supporting such global events. The results of which are due to the support of the economic, cognitive and development system, to establish a system of exchange of information, experience and expertise, to participate in capacity-building and skills and to contribute to the enhancement of the efficiency of the human element, which is essential for the promotion of sustainable development in Bahrain. Shaikh Mohammed said that the Arabian Gulf region is of great importance in the world of petrochemical industry, it represents the main supplier of ethylene in the world, noting that the Middle East region will see a global growth to be an important centre in the ethylene industry because of its ability to provide raw materials and global competition, noting the importance of focusing on sharing operational efficiencies and excellence and providing opportunities for those interested to enhance technical knowledge and empower them in senior positions in their corporate hierarchy. He stressed that the best way to identify profitable ways in the future of the ethylene market is to understand the trends and impending shifts in the dynamics of this important industry. The minister emphasised the importance of sustainability of the bio-petrochemical sector, which plays a key role in achieving global competitive advantage by attracting skills and manpower. As well as meeting the requirements and expectations of customers that undoubtedly contribute to reducing costs, which stresses that sustainability is the only way to ensure the continuity of success and prosperity. The accompanying exhibition which had more than 1,000 participants from 20 countries across the world, included a distinct programme through which scientific research and practical experiments were presented and discussed by global speakers, executives, and senior officials of oil companies and other related companies. The conference included topics about competitive landscape to the changing petrochemical in the GCC countries, the importance of operational excellence in chemicals in the Middle East, crude oil to chemicals, linear programming techniques and other important topics.
