Ex-president Khatami criticizes US for breaching nuclear deal

Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA – Former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami said on Tuesday that US move to blacklist a dozen of overseas companies and individuals for evading US sanctions on Iran was a wrong act, and that Washington must steer clear of breaching the landmark deal struck on November 24. On diplomatic campaign of President Hassan Rouhani to blame the western governments for their arbitrary sanctions on Iran, the former president said, “I believe the government has been successful in this area.” It is not doable to want 100 percent of the problems to be solved, Khatami said, adding that the government is moving ahead with solving the problems so that Iran keeps its nuclear technology and at the same time continues with international and economic activities. Khatami, the founder of the International Institute for Dialogue among Cultures and Civilizations, admitted in the meantime that the other side seems to be inclined to resolve the issue too, citing the efforts made by the US government to dissuade the Congress warmongers from imposing new sanctions
