Exhibit of works of Iranian Baluchi embroiderer Mahtab Noruzi opens at Sadabad

TEHRAN,July 23(MNA) – An exhibition of artworks created by the recently deceased Iranian Baluchi embroiderer Mahtab Noruzi opened at the Sadabad Historical Cultural Complex on Sunday. The showcase will run until August 5 at the Museum of Contemporary History of Sadabad to commemorate Noruzi who died at the age of 78 on July 13. She lived in the village of Qasemabad near the city of Bampur in Sistan-Baluchestan Province. Noruzi’s richly embroidered patterns made her works find ways into the homes of the wealthy. She learned the art from her mom at the age of 15 and was practicing it since then. The artist, who never married, made her living through her works while she was able. She also used to teach embroidery skills to the girls and women of her village. Throughout the years, she worried that she would not have enough time and energy to pass on her knowledge to the youth. Embroidery works coming from Afghanistan and Pakistan at lower prices and quality threaten the art in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
