Exhibition of national photo biennial opens at Iranian Artists Forum

TEHRAN,June 23(MNA) – An exhibition displaying works of the 12th edition of the Iranian National Biennial of Photography opened at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran on Thursday. A total of 129 works by 110 photographers have been selected for the exhibition, which is underway at IAF’s galleries of Momayyez, Bahar, Tabestan, Paiiz and Zemestan. Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi and several other officials and artists attended an opening ceremony held for the exhibit. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is the main organizer of the event. Shahabadi said that the ministry will try to hold future editions of the biennial internationally. Winners of the biennial were announced during a ceremony in Yazd in mid-June 2012. “The photos which are on display at the showcase have been chosen from 14,317 photos taken by 2,570 artists,” biennial secretary Esmaeil Abbasi said in a short speech during the opening ceremony of the exhibit, which runs until July 4. The Museum of Art and Culture in Yazd is concurrently hosting the showcase, which will continue until July 13.
