Exhibition showcasing artworks by Egypt's former culture minister opens in Manama

Manama, Jan. 12 (BNA): A solo exhibition by Egypt's former Culture Minister Farouk Hosny was opened at the Arts Center in Manama. The artist, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, diplomats, and artists attended the opening event. Shaikha Mai commended the Egyptian artist as a towering figure in promoting culture and arts in Egypt and across the Arab world. Hosny, who is showcasing his artwork for the second time in Bahrain, gives the public the opportunity to view a series of paintings, she added. The exhibition featuring 45 works created over the past two years will run until February 5. Hosny's first exhibition in Manama was held in 1992. He has held exhibitions at the Metropolitan in New York, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Fort Lauderdale in Miami, the National Museum of Vienna of Austria, the Tokyo Museum of Japan, the Carrousel Museum of the Louvre, Le Vittoriano Museum in Rome, among others, Egyptian daily Ahram said.
