Fake lottery ticket gang makes off with 100,000 baht

SAMUT SAKHON, Feb 22 (TNA) - The police will seek the court approval for arrest warrants for the fake lottery ticket gang after they forged winning lottery tickets and took the prizes of over 100,000 baht from the lottery ticket traders in Samut Sakhon. Pol Col Weera Wijithong, deputy commander of Samut Sakhon provincial police said the fake lottery tickets were handed over to the Government Lottery Office for examination on the forgery of the numbers and QR codes printed on the lottery tickets. The result of the examination is expected to be known today and the police will seek arrest warrants from the court for the gang members. In the meantime, the police are hunting the culprits. Pol Col Weera warned lottery ticket traders to beware of fake lottery tickets as the gang could apply advanced technology to forge the winning lottery tickets more easily. In this case, the gang forged the numbers and QR codes of the winning lottery tickets for the fourth and fifth prizes and for the first three-digit and the last three-digit prizes of the Feb 16 lottery round. They brought the fake tickets to claim the prizes of more than 100,000 baht from lottery traders in Mahachai town of Samut Sakhon. Panya Ratchawong, 66 the lottery ticket seller, one of their victims, offer 10,000 baht cash for anyone, who can give a tip-off, leading to the arrest of the culprits. (TNA)
