Farmers’ Market concludes on a high note

Manama, Apr.27 (BNA): The curtain fell on the seventh edition of the farmers’ market, being held at the Budaiya Botanical Garden.
The annual market which lasted for 21 weeks, was first opened last Dember 8. Forty Bahraini farmers and 6 companies took part in the market, showcasing their agricultural products.
The annual market is part of national initiatives held by the Directorate of Agriculture and Marine Resources, in cooperation with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) to promote local produce and boost farmers’ revenues.
Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa stressed the success of the 7th edition of the farmers’ market which concluded on a high note, attracting thousands of visitors.
He paid tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Consultative Council President for promoting the market concept as a platform for Bahraini farmers to showcase their products.
He underlined fruitful cooperation between the Directorate of Agriculture and Marine Resources and with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).
Bahrain Farmers’ Market executive director Amani Abu Idris said that seventh edition had attracted more than 250,000 visitors over the 31-week event which opened last December.
