Father picks up body of daughter, killed in S Korea
BANGKOK, Nov 9 (TNA) – Father of a Thai woman murdered in South Korea arrived Seoul to bring back the body of his daughter to Thailand after he received money from anonymous donor.
Samrit Pleankitcharoen, father of Chutima Uthaikham, who was murdered, today met Thai ambassador in Seoul, said Foreign ministry spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks.
The ambassador told him that the Thai embassy expressed concern over the case to the Korean police. The police pledged to solve the case and would report progress to the Thai embassy.
The embassy has also forwarded the money the received from a donor, who declined to disclose the name, to the victim’s father. The embassay will arrange a religious rite for the body at a Thai temple there before the remains will be transported back home in Thailand. Her body is now at a hospital in Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The Thai woman was reportedly killed in late October by a bus driver of the company she worked for. The man confessed to the crime while the investigation is under way to find the motive behind the killing.
The victim worked in South Korea about ten years and was a breadwinner for her poor family in Nakhon Ratchasima. (TNA)
