Favorable credit program for students
Ust-Kamenogorsk, November 04, 2009 (Khabar) - The East Kazakhstani students are discussing changes in the concessional lending program.
According to them, chances for receiving a loan have increased considerably now. The prolongation of loan repayment term and the lifting of restriction concerning specialties are among the advantages. Instructors and students of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University believe that from now on, much more students will be able borrow money for education from the state. Restrictions concerning the list of specialties were eliminated and the debt may be paid off within the course of 17 years. Moreover, it is permissible not to redeem a loan during the first year after the graduation.
Zhasulan Aimukhambetov, ombudsman of Students Alliance of Kazakhstan:
- It is necessary to organize job placement in the future for students so that they could repay their loans as students have a fear of not finding a job after they graduate. This fear prevents them from taking out a loan.
300 students fall under the category of soft lending at this higher education institution. They are represented by disabled people, orphans and children from low-income families. Many students weren’t satisfied with the former terms often due to complexity of drawing up a loan. Now, the young are studying new regulations in detail. The program has undergone a considerable improvement indeed.
Alyona Gorobets, chairperson of students’ union, East Kazakhstan State Technical University:
- The term was elongated for us which is a great advantage. And if the issue of reducing the rate was considered, there would be more people to subscribe for loans.
The greatest plus lies in benefits on collateralized property. According to new rules, the “Financial center” of the Ministry of education and science will act as guarantor from now on. This reduces the main portion of problems faced while receiving an educational credit.
