FBI joins hands with Thai police

BANGKOK, April 9 (TNA) - The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined forces with Thai police on investigations into serial murder and cases of missing children. Assistant National Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Chaiyong Keeratikhachorn told journalists on Wednesday that visiting staffs of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit met him in Bangkok earlier in the day to discuss cooperation with Thai police on investigative innovations, the first of such FBI cooperation with a member country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). According to the assistant national police chief, FBI representatives also advised on the examination of murderers’ behaviors, including questioning techniques which should benefit Thai police’s investigations into and prevention of crime, especially serial murder and cases of missing children. Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police's Central Investigation Bureau is about to set up its behavioral analysis unit which meets international standards to prevent the arrest of scapegoats and the torture of suspects.(TNA)
