Financial grants distribution ceremony held

Manama, Dec. 20 (BNA): The Labour and Social Development Ministry held today a distribution ceremony of financial grants on 48 non-government organisations (NGOs) whose programmes met accredited criteria. The celebration was held under the patronage of Honorary President of the Community Action Fund Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Labour and Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Sabah Salim Al Dusari, MPs, members of the Shura Council and sponsors of the Community Action Fund attended the event held at Sharifa Al-Awadhi Children and Youth Club in East Riffa. Shaikh Isa praised the key role of the NGOs in reaching out to people's needs and backing the efforts of the public and private sectors in social development. He also lauded the role of the Community Action Fund in directing, following on and supporting the financial grants programme. Al Dusari gave a speech on behalf of Labour and Social Development Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan in which he thanked Shaikh Isa for patronizing the ceremony and commended his support to the non-government work in Bahrain. He also lauded the sponsors of the Community Action Fund, describing it as a successful investment in community partnership and in supporting national development initiatives by NGOs. Shaikh Isa and the Labour and Social Development Ministry Undersecretary presented the winning NGOs with the financial grants certificates. The 48 winning organisations were selected by an impartial jury from the University of Bahrain according to well-defined criteria. Shaikh Isa also honoured the sponsors of the Community Action Fund.
