Fire at Thai temple's sermon hall museum

PATHUM THANI, September 6 (TNA) - A fire broke out late Wednesday night at a two-storey sermon hall of the Suwan Bamrung Ratchawaram Temple in Lam Luk Ka area of Bangkok's suburban Pathum Thani Province, which was used as a museum of Thai farmers' wooden devices and a communal history library, causing over 20 million damage initially. The 20x40 metre-second-floor monasterial museum was totally destroyed although more than 10 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to stop the blaze, but nearby monasterial cells inside the temple have been safe. An official investigation into the cause of the fire by local police has been continuing. Meanwhile, the temple's abbot, Phra Kru Suwan-worakan, who fainted after learning of the fire, has been recovering at the adjacent Lam Luk Ka Hospital. (TNA)
