First Deputy Speaker receives German ambassador

Manama, Jan. 7 (BNA): First Deputy Speaker of the Representatives Council Abdul Nabi Salman received today German Ambassador to Bahrain Kai Thamo Boeckmann. He stressed strong relations between the leaderships of both countries and conveyed the greetings of Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal. He lauded Bahrain's pioneering experience in tolerance and religious co-existence, pointing out the role of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence in this respect. The First Deputy Speaker of the Representatives Council expressed sympathy to the German Ambassador over the huge fire which broke out in an Airbus factory in Germany on December 29, 2018 which caused estimated losses of more than $ 11 million. He also discussed with the German ambassador ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields. He praised the active role of the German community in the kingdom's development, stressing the care and respect given to the expatriate labour force in Bahrain. He also discussed with the German ambassador streamlining procedures to issue German visas for Bahraini nationals. The German ambassador underscored his country's keenness on bolstering bilateral cooperation, mainly in the parliamentary field, by exchanging visits, availing of experiences and signing memoranda of understanding. He expressed thanks to Bahrain for the gracious welcome and hospitality, praising the role of the Representatives Council in upgrading legislation in tune with the legal system.
