First Lady of the Maldives visits DANAT

Manama, Oct. 8 (BNA): First Lady of the Maldives, Fazna Ahmed, and INJAZ Bahrain Board Chairperson and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) member, Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, have paid a visit to the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT).
The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between Bahrain and the Maldives, through exchanging experiences between the two friendly countries, in a way that supports national policies aimed at advancing the pearl and gemstone sector.
During the visit, DANAT Chief Executive Officer, Noora Jamsheer, gave a presentation to introduce DANAT and shed light on its role in implementing the national plan to revive the pearl sector in the kingdom.
The Bahraini pearl heritage spanning more than five thousand years, and efforts made to enhance confidence in the pearl trade in Bahrain and around the world were also highlighted.
Jamsheer also briefed the First Lady of the Maldives about the world-class services provided by DANAT, including education, examination and certification of pearls and precious stones.
An induction tour was also organised around the "Danat" laboratory, which is specialised in examining pearls and gemstones, and the advanced tools, equipment and devices therein were also highlighted.
Distinguished samples of pearls and precious stones were also shown in the Institute's display library, which is the largest of its kind at the regional level.
DANAT’s efforts in the field of research and studies that its researchers and experts are currently working on were also reviewed.
It is to be noted that a high-profile Maldivian delegation had previously visited DANAT, where it discussed ways to bolster cooperation between the two friendly countries in this field.
On the occasion, DANA CEO made a statement in which she expressed delight in the visit that bears witness to the depth of the Bahraini-Maldivian friendly relations.
She underlined DANAT’s keenness to deepen such international relations to achieve the national goals of reviving the pearl sector, and restoring the kingdom’s glorious experience in this vital field, expressing hope that the visit would pave the way for building a lasting and fruitful partnership between the two countries.
