Five injured in Narathiwat ambush

NARATHIWAT, Dec 26 (TNA) – Four army rangers and one villager were wounded in an ambush attack in Narathiwat this morning. Four army rangers were attacked by an unknown number of gunmen on Baan Dahong – Baan Biloh road in Sisakorn district at 9.40 am while they were travelling to the market. Four officials and a woman, who was tapping rubber near the site were shot and rushed to hospital. More than 10 spent M16 cartridges were found near the bullet-ridden pick-up truck of the army rangers. Less than an hour later, while investigators were collecting evidence at the shooting site, a roadside bomb went off two kilometers away. No one was severely injured in the incident but a soldier and a defense volunteer guarding there suffered from ringing ears and chest pain. (TNA)
